Disintegrate

In my senior year studio at Arizona State University, I was tasked to design and build a clock based off of my capstone social issue. My social issue was plastic waste. This has been something I have been passionate about since I was a little girl.

The sad reality of plastic's life cycle is that it can never decompose, it only breaks up into tiny micro-plastics after 1,000s of years. That means that all the plastic currently floating in our oceans will only multiply, it will never go away.

Each letterform represents a piece of plastic floating in our oceans. I printed them onto three pieces of glass that were locally sourced. I wanted to make it as sustainable as possible.
